strong technical expertise,
strong relationships
In 1987, three top executives from a leading original equipment manufacturer founded Phoenix International Corporation in Fargo, North Dakota. They recognized the need to provide
strong technical expertise, while conducting business with an emphasis on open commercial relationships with their customers. With foresight and hard work, these entrepreneurs developed the groundwork for an
electronic hardware/software design and
manufacturing company that specializes in electronic controls, displays, and sensor products.
With a concentration on developing highly reliable, ruggedized electronic products, the company began designing and manufacturing electronics for the
agricultural industry. From there, the company looked toward the
construction market, where there was a growing need for electronics that could withstand harsh physical and electrical environments.

As the need for integration of electronics with mechanical systems began to grow, Phoenix expanded its customer base to include such areas as heavy construction, irrigation, small engine, hydraulic pumps and valves, and the dairy industry.
the John Deere connection
Phoenix International had been a supplier to
John Deere since the early 1990s. Starting in 1994, Deere & Company progressively increased its ownership in Phoenix, resulting in 100% ownership in 1999. The reason behind the purchase was strategic. Phoenix International gives John Deere the core capability to develop and manufacture
advanced, rugged, integrated electronics for their equipment. In 2005, Phoenix became a part of the John Deere Intelligent Mobile Equipment Technologies group. The strategic intent behind this change was to create a distinct competitive advantage for Deere by leveraging our existing and future electronics capabilities from within the Intelligent Mobile Equipment Technologies group. Today, Phoenix International is the Electronics Center of Excellence for John Deere.
Backed by the resources of Deere & Company, Phoenix International has been able to expand and enhance its capabilities to benefit its
worldwide customer base. Part of that expansion included the addition of the New Product Introduction (NPI) Center located in Fargo. Completed in May of 2001, the NPI Center is the cornerstone of
North Dakota State University's Technology Park. The Center is dedicated not only to the design of a product, but also to applying advanced technology in the development of the processes and testing needed to produce that product.
Today, a growing list of worldwide companies has come to depend on Phoenix International's expertise, performance, and reliability.
Several factors point to future growth for Phoenix International. We enjoy a high rate of repeat business with current customers, while continuing to diversify into new
markets. The facilities combined have over 300 engineers with varying areas of proficiency. Their expertise in ruggedized
designs, combined with strong
manufacturing capabilities, has resulted in exceptional growth, making Phoenix International an industry leader.
